What's the easiest thing to do in life?
It's not to keep going despite all the tribulations. It's not to see the beauty despite the storm, so what is? Let's be honest. Quitting is the easiest thing to do when life keeps beating you down. It's to simply stop and let everything drown you. Who could blame you? No matter how much people try to paint life as beautiful, fair, and full of hope, they can never change reality. This world is unfair, unjust, ugly with hate and envy, and you could encounter more evil than good throughout your life. So, what makes life beautiful? Let me tell you.
It's those same unfairness, injustice, pain, and heartbreaks that makes life beautiful because without them, we would never learn and grow. Those unpleasant experiences are the ones that force use to make difficult decisions that lead us to where we are headed in life. So if the easiest thing to do is to quit, the hardest is to keep fighting. This is what Quit of SB19 is trying to tell us.
They thought I'd cower in fear and break
Thought they got advantage to take
But I guess they're blinded eyes full of hate
I'm gon' make 'em see why
I didn't bend, how could I even break?
In every battle lost, know they celebrate
Well, it's good to hear their cries when they fail
Praying for my downfall, they thought I would quit
This song is certainly very sentimental for SB19, especially for Felip a.k.a Ken, who originally wrote the song as a soloist. Throughout his career, people had been envious of how he never cared about other people's opinion. He can dye his hair in the most peculiar way or dress in the most mind-boggling fashion, and he would nail it every single time. It is one of his most attractive characteristics. When his song was chosen to be part of the group's EP and PABLO helped re-write some of the parts to fit for the group, it became an anthem for five people who gave everything they've got to get to where they are now. No matter how bumpy the road had been, they all kept going. They celebrate the wins and treasure every loss for its lessons and opportunities to improve.
We'll never know, I guess we'll never know
If I would go down, guess wе'll never know
No, I don't know, I guess wе'll never know
I guess we'll never know, I guess we'll never know
We never know, don't we? No matter how much we prepare, we can never be certain about anything in life. Once we meet the one, that one person who could take our breath away, our brain would immediately build a fantasy story of happily ever after. Although, a lot of times, that beautiful love story we thought we had was just a fantasy. Many of us spent our youth planning our future, sometimes because of the strong encouragement of parents. They plan our future for us and tell us what we should be when we grow up so much that we would end up just following it. Nothing in this life is certain except change, and all we can do is just brace for impact.
Ah, ayokong mamatay
They tryna kill the colours in my mind
When all my heart wanted was to be kind, oh
I'm afraid to die alive
Losin' myself, tryin' to be a lie
So I'd be picture perfect in your eyes
It's not just celebrities that struggle with trying to please everyone. We all experience the same thing. It takes a certain level of awareness to understand that trying to look perfect or at least good for everyone is a losing battle. No matter what we do, people will have something to say about us. Despite all the good things we've done, all they would care about is that one mistake. A lot of us end up forsaking our true selves just so we could look good for others, while all they wait is that one wrong move to judge. The line "ayokong mamatay" is an encouragement to one's self to never stop fighting. We may feel like we're walking in a dark, unending tunnel, but no matter how long the tunnel is, there will always be an end to it. In this world and this life, we don't really to be strong and brave. We just have to be patient and willing to keep going.
I said I'm alright, that's what I would tell them when I would cry
Chose to be kind, but these people so evil, my, my
Come inside, inside of my mind
See I'm wrestling all my demons up on this side
Still faking a smile, I'm fine but it's gonna take a while
'Cause I'm all too familiar with this kind of pain
Kahit 'nong gawin, I won't run away
Bukas, makalawa lang, alam kong may darating na grasya, grasya, grasya
Bottling up our feelings is one of human's go-to remedy for pain and heartbreak. We push everything down so we wouldn't have to deal with them. It works, for a time, until the bottle is finally too full to contain all the pain we've tried to hide. We hide our troubles to protect ourselves, but more than that, we do it to protect the people around us. It's natural for a person to want to protect the people he or she love in any way possible. It somehow helps us to know that they are oblivious of the fact that we're suffering, because in that way, we would have less things to worry about.
Choosing kindness is one of the hardest thing to do in this world. Everywhere you look, there's always something that would make you question what kindness is for. In my all my years in this world, I've witnessed some proof that there's hope for humanity, yes, but there are more evidence to suggest otherwise. Murder, war, injustice, violence, corruption? That's everywhere. There's so much envy even in your own community and home. But see, kindness is a choice. It is something that you can do for free. You can do it, more for yourself than others, because it will allow you to find comfort from within.
It is also hard to hold on to hope because most of the time, it would only bring pain and misery in the end. We often feel that hope hurts more than it helps, but hope can work wonders, especially for people who need it the most. At times when when we feel like there's no point in fighting and trying to survive, hope is the one thing that could save us from completely drowning.
Don't let the world drain the life and happiness out of you. No matter how dark the clouds may be, the sun is just hiding behind it. Remember that storms don't last forever.
